Ajanta & Ellora caves About History,Pictures,Paintings Tour in Pune

The Ajanta Caves and Ellora caves are close to Aurangabad in Maharashtra. The Ajanta Caves are dated back to 2nd century BC out of a horseshoe-shaped cliff along the Waghora River. These caves were used by Buddhist monks as monasteries (viharas) for many centuries. Then the caves were abruptly abandoned and fell into oblivion until they were rediscovered in the year 1819.

Ajanta Caves are a complex of 29 Buddhist cave temples. These caves preserve some of the best masterpieces of Buddhist art in India.

The caves also depict scenes from everyday life of that era. The Ellora Caves are an impressive complex of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain cave temples built between the 6th and 10th centuries AD.

The caves have a less intense setting than those at Ajanta, but these have more delicate sculptures. The co-existence of structures from three different religions serve as a proof  of the prevalent religious tolerance of India.

Ajanta and Ellora caves are absolutely magnificent and worth a visit. See this video & judge the people enjoyment in this beautiful place

  3. I always wear my best boots for walking on concrete during travel to keep them safe on concrete. I've been all around the world, but each place has a different type of ground and mine are made for walking!
